This term, students at the Marist Learning Zone have been putting their creativity and practical skills into action in a very special project.
During their breaks and free time, they have designed and built Street Libraries to be placed in local community hubs.
A Street Library is more than just a place to share books — it represents connection, generosity, and belonging. Our students enjoyed the process of working together with their peers and teachers, collaborating to design, build, and decorate each of the libraries. This teamwork not only fostered stronger relationships but also highlighted the positive impact they can make when working toward a shared goal.
In the spirit of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, who reminded us that “to raise children properly, we must love them, and love them all equally,” this project has been about more than construction. It has been an act of love for the community — creating something accessible, welcoming, and lasting for everyone to enjoy.
The libraries will soon be enjoyed by families and community members, standing as a testament to the students’ commitment, creativity, and collaboration. A special thank you to Ruben Galego Montero and the Lavalla200> team, who spearheaded this project. The legacy of their efforts will continue to make a lasting positive difference within our community and beyond.

π₯ STEPPING INTO THE WORLD OF HEALTHCARE! π Year 10 students Willow and Zahlia from Bede Polding College South Windsor recently took part in the Health Inspirations Program at Nepean Hospital, a two day immersive experience designed for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare π The students gained valuable insight into both clinical and non-clinical healthcare pathways, shadowing professionals across eight hospital areas including the Emergency Department, Birth Unit, Children's Ward, Cardiac Cath Lab, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Paramedicine. They also participated in hands-on workshops and learned practical skills such as basic life support and infection control, while hearing directly from healthcare professionals about their careers and experiences. It's fantastic to see students embracing opportunities to explore future pathways, with both Willow and Zahlia describing the program as 'the best experience ever!' π

β¨ STITCHING KINDNESS ACROSS OUR SCHOOLS π From crochet keychains to knitted squares and handmade gifts, our students are showing how creativity can make a real difference ππ At Catherine McAuley Westmead, Environment Week came to life through the βRepurpose Pop-Up Stallβ, where Earth Action Committee students showcased handcrafted items made from repurposed materials - including bags, earrings, bookmarks and pouches πΏ Funds raised are supporting the Parramatta Womenβs Shelter.
