The cover artwork for this year’s ARTICULATE (Parramatta Diocese’s HSC Visual Arts Showcase) catalogue was created by Yashica Patel, a former St Luke’s Catholic College Marsden Park student.
Her featured digital series, titled “Lost in Revelry", beautifully captures the essence of becoming fully absorbed in the creative process. Yashica shared that the title reflects her deep love for artmaking, especially those moments when you find yourself completely immersed and lose track of everything else.
When beginning her HSC Body of Work, Yashica was initially inspired by the paintings she had seen at ARTEXPRESS and planned to create a series of oil paintings. However, she ultimately chose to follow her passion for animation, producing a collection aligned more closely with her interests and creative voice.
She credits the success of her work to regularly seeking feedback from teachers and friends, setting high personal standards and embracing experimentation throughout her process.
Yashica commenced a Commerce degree at UNSW this year, but remains committed to her artistic journey. She plans to continue developing her animation skills and hopes to one day pursue animation formally.

🏥 STEPPING INTO THE WORLD OF HEALTHCARE! 💙 Year 10 students Willow and Zahlia from Bede Polding College South Windsor recently took part in the Health Inspirations Program at Nepean Hospital, a two day immersive experience designed for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare 👏 The students gained valuable insight into both clinical and non-clinical healthcare pathways, shadowing professionals across eight hospital areas including the Emergency Department, Birth Unit, Children's Ward, Cardiac Cath Lab, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Paramedicine. They also participated in hands-on workshops and learned practical skills such as basic life support and infection control, while hearing directly from healthcare professionals about their careers and experiences. It's fantastic to see students embracing opportunities to explore future pathways, with both Willow and Zahlia describing the program as 'the best experience ever!' 🌟

✨ STITCHING KINDNESS ACROSS OUR SCHOOLS 💙 From crochet keychains to knitted squares and handmade gifts, our students are showing how creativity can make a real difference 💭💚 At Catherine McAuley Westmead, Environment Week came to life through the ‘Repurpose Pop-Up Stall’, where Earth Action Committee students showcased handcrafted items made from repurposed materials - including bags, earrings, bookmarks and pouches 🌿 Funds raised are supporting the Parramatta Women’s Shelter.
